Food is linked to our emotions since it can affect us, either positively or negatively. E.g, consuming food that is high in sugar content may lead to a loss of concentration, low productivity or medical conditions, such as diabetes.
Nutrients can help boost brain health. Nutrients are known to improve our brain function and help control or alleviate symptoms of mental conditions, such as depression. Ensuring a balanced and healthy diet can help prevent deficiencies in nutrients that are essential to boost memory, focus and mood and overall brain health. Furthermore, healthy eating energises you, reduces mood fluctuations and anxiety and increases positivity and focus, among others.

The Keto (ketogenic) Diet consists of food that is high-fat, moderate-protein and low-carbohydrates (carbs). Carbs are burned by our body first as a source of energy. However, too many carbs are not good especially for individuals with chronic conditions. E.g. high levels of sugar and insulin, commonly produced when carbs are burned, may be detrimental to a person with diabetes.
With the Keto Diet, the amount of carbs is significantly lowered while the amount of (healthy) fats are increased. The body will then switch to burning fats instead, leading to the production of ketones for fuel. Ketones are known to be a healthier alternative source of energy. This process is called ‘ketogenesis’ and it puts your body in a metabolic state of “ketosis”.
Signs can include:
Tiredness (for a short period) There are also tests available to ascertain ketosis, such as blood tests, urine tests or a breathalyser.
