Social Skills Training
The ability to succeed socially is essential to good mental and emotional health. Many children struggle to make and keep friends, which in turn, may adversely affect their confidence and cause anxiety and depression.
Our Occupational Therapists are adept at teaching children essential social skills. Through our social skills group sessions, the children also have the opportunity to practise these skills with others in a nurturing and safe environment, setting them up to interact better with peers and adults in their natural settings.
Social Skills Training
Social skills include communication, problem-solving, decision-making, self-management and peer relations abilities that allow the child to initiate and maintain positive social relationships with others.
Deficits or excesses in acceptable social behaviour interfere with learning, teaching and the classroom’s orchestration and climate. Social competence has been known to be linked to peer acceptance, teacher acceptance, inclusion success and post-school success.
We provide social skills training via one-on-one sessions and group sessions. The group sessions are also conducted by our Psychologists and Teachers. For our group sessions, we group children with similar age groups and skills to maximise their learning and development.
